2 Timothy 3:16–17 (ESV) | “16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. “
Even in the biblically recorded instances of God speaking, it is not always clear whether it was an audible voice, an inner voice, or a mental impression.
God does speak to His people today just like He did throughout history and He clearly did speak to my wife a few months ago when she was consistently asking Him to reveal to her what was His purpose for her at her current job or if it was time to move to another job; the answer came as an audible voice that said:
“I will not give you another job because I want you to prepare to go to Colombia”

Very confused and scared she immediately called me to share what just happened, to what my answer was: “well we are not going to Colombia and we can’t afford for you to leave your job, so maybe it wasn’t the Lord that spoke to you” or in other words: “What is wrong with you? Let’s get to work”. Let me clarify that she wasn’t thinking about Colombia and she like me never wanted to go back so the whole statement made no sense to us.
If God were to speak today, His words would be in full agreement with what He has said in the Bible, because God does not contradict Himself. In light of this my wife started a journey through the bible along with fasting, prayer, and the counsel of Godly people in order to clearly confirm or denied if was our Lord speaking to her.
God speaks to us through His Word, He speaks through impressions, events, and thoughts; He helps us to discern right from wrong through our consciences. He is in the process of conforming our minds to think His thoughts, and He may sometimes speak audibly to people. God does speak to people today but the question is:
Are we listening to what He has to say?
Do we want to hear what He has to say?
Next week I will share the next step on our journey but now let me encourage you all today to whole heartedly seek God’s will for your life and listen to His call.
